AK-25 BARQUETA NOGUERA-SPEEDWELL
The Noguera-Piñol workshop in Barcelona already enjoyed great prestige in 1969 as a preparer of vehicles for competition. It was then that they joined forces with Spedwell Iberica to market their products. From then on, together with their friend and driver José Sales, they decided to build a two-seater barqueta of national manufacture.
On a tubular chassis of rectangular section they installed, in the rear, a Seat 124 Sport engine (1600 double tree) prepared by Noguera with a Renault 8 Gordini gearbox of five relations, Selex steering, front radiator, two lateral tanks and pilot on the right, like the majority of two-seaters of the time.
The beautifully designed aluminium sheet metal bodywork, which was originally intended to be covered, was discarded due to the impossibility of finding someone who could manufacture the special windscreen that the car needed.
It was presented in 1970 at the Speedwell stand at the Barcelona Motor Show. Since then it has appeared in various competitions, from 1970 to 1984, in the hands of different drivers, from the Mountain Championship to its participation in the X Premio Ciudad de Alcañiz.
The decoration chosen on this occasion is the IX Subida al Montseny of 1972 in the hands of José Sales.
